Brief Biography
Lewis George Janes was involved in Boston's religious transindental movement at the turn of the century. He was likely present at the first meeting because close colleagues like Charles Gordon Ames and Francis Ellingwood Abbot attended. His editorial to the Springfield Republican entitled 'The Short Way with the Filipinos' was widely published, but Janes did not continue to play an active role in the institutional movement as he health deteriorated in 1900.
