League Membership:             American Anti-Imperialist League, 1899

Occupation:                            Rector

Brief Biography

Bacon was the first rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Louisiana who wrote on religious matters extensively. His membership in the League was maintained until his death in 1904. It is possible to draw comparisons from Bacon's writings on the law of God as paramount and see how he viewed the human condition as universal with the views of anti-imperialists who similarly objected to McKinley's "benevolent assimilation" as inequitable and inhumane.
